The Family Management program works with families to empower them to move along the continuum from dependence to self sufficiency. From simple guidance and service, referral to family support, JUNTA advocates for families for them to gain the knowledge and skills needed for self advocacy and empowerment.

What We Do

Information & Referral: Many who enter our doors simply need guidance on how to resolve an issue or where to access services. The fully bilingual (English/Spanish) staff helps clients with a ranger of needs; from accessing public housing and referring children to health services to guiding individuals out of domestic violence situations.

Free Diapers for Children: Thanks to a partnership with The Diaper Bank, Junta distributes free diapers once per month to low-income families.

Screening for Public and/or Cash Assistance: We screen clients for multiple governmental and non-governmental benefits. In partnership with The Connecticut Association of Human Services, the EarnBenefits Online screening system provides a resource for individuals and families to determine if they qualify for any income support services (disability, childcare assistance, food assistance, cash assistance), as well as financial aid and asset building services.

Free or reduced price Furniture: We provide our low income clients with donated furniture from the general public. We as a member of The Furniture Co-Op and Helping Hands Furniture Bank, we refer clients to the Co-op after being pre-screened by one of our staff. Thanks to our partnerships we have been able to help people transitioning from homelessness and families that are unable to afford a bed for their child and furniture for their home.

Holiday Toy Drive: Each year, we work to provide up to 200 children with toys for the holidays, through a combination of donated toys and financial contributions.

Who We Serve

The Family Management and Legal Advocacy Program serve mostly low-income clients; we serve over 1150 individuals monthly, 80% Latinos.

We provide over 100 children with diapers monthly.

Junta has provided over 50 families with furniture monthly, families who are transitioning from homelessness, living with disability or other insufferable hardship.
