Junta celebrates Latino culture and experiences and promotes cultural understanding through annual events and collaborations.
In conjunction with the Peabody Museum of Natural History, Junta presents an annual day-long festival Fiesta Latina! It is becoming increasingly popular in the city.
This day-long fiesta includes different performances of traditional and contemporary Latin American music and dances that celebrate and nurture the traditions of the many Latino communities living in New Haven. Throughout the museum facilities, Fiesta! offers many activities for kids and families including storytelling, face painting, and mask making for kids. Adults could enjoy the live music, attend the food demonstrations and have the opportunity to experience all the museum has to offer, with tours in English and Spanish, enjoy a tour of the museum in Spanish among other activities.
Latino Day at the New Haven Open
The third Wednesday in August, Junta partners with New Haven’s annual tennis tournament to present Latino Day. Held at Yale Tennis Center, Latino children and their families are introduced to the sport of tennis through a meet and greet with international tennis players, tennis clinics, a tour of the facilities, and an opportunity to watch a professional tennis match.
