Other Agencies

Junta works in collaboration with other organizations and institutions. Some of these include the following:

COMMUNITY MEDIATION

In collaboration with Community Mediation, the NAACP of Greater New Haven and the New Haven Department of Police Service, Junta is participating in the “Community Justice Dialogue: Police Profiling Project”, aimed at engaging members of the community and police officers from New Haven and surrounding towns in facilitated dialogues on the perception and prevention of racial profiling.

FAVOR

The FAVOR organization was formed in 2001 to help develop a family movement around children’s mental health policies and services throughout Connecticut. FAVOR is a collaborative of four family organizations: Padres Abriendo Puertas (Fathers Open Doors), African and Caribbean-American Parents of Children with Disabilities (AFCAMP), Families United and NAMI of Connecticut. This collaborative is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural and has the expertise to provide choice to families and deliver culturally appropriate training and other family-oriented services around children’s mental health.

FAVOR, in partnership with Junta, has undertaken a community outreach and organizing effort to publicize the program, identify family needs around children’s mental health, organize a family advisory group to bring together ideas and concerns, identify training that families might need and help to implement needed family programs around children’s mental health. For more information, contact Nayda Martinez Odigie at 787-0191.
